J&K Students Evacuated from Iran Get Shabby Buses; Omar Abdullah Responds Swiftly

Introduction

In a distressing turn of events following a critical evacuation effort, students from Jammu and Kashmir who were recently brought back to India from Iran have voiced strong concerns about the poor condition of transportation provided for their journey back home. Their plea, initially ignored, gained attention only after former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah intervened, promising immediate corrective action.

This incident not only highlights the gaps in crisis management but also brings attention to how timely leadership responses can shift the outcome of a situation, especially when it concerns youth safety and national dignity.

Evacuation from Iran Amid Tensions

With tensions escalating in the Middle East due to the Israel-Iran conflict, several Indian students studying in Iran — many of them from Jammu & Kashmir — were urgently evacuated. The Indian government facilitated their transfer from Iran to Armenia, and later flew them back to New Delhi as part of its responsibility to protect citizens abroad during international crises.

Among these evacuees, approximately 90 students were from the Kashmir Valley, all of whom had been facing stress, confusion, and fear in the days leading up to their evacuation. Their return was supposed to mark the end of their distress.

Unfortunately, a new challenge emerged upon arrival.
